VEGANISM WEEK 2 - CHOCOLATE

This week has been more of a challenge. I ventured out for drinks with my friend this week and found myself in a lovely little bar serving Gin, wines and beers. All of which were lost on me as I was the designated driver. However this lovely little bar served a choice of three 'snack' plates. A Meat board, Pickles and crisps, and a cheese board.

As I munched on the peanuts and mini gherkins, I looked on with envy at my friend as she tucked into a cheeseboard all for herself. This was the first time i struggled with my new 'lifestyle'. But I survived.

It also occurred to me during a dinner with another friend how limited the choices are. At this particular restaurant, my choices were a salad and erm... a salad. No garlic bread, no pasta, definitely no pizza, and don't even get me started on the lack of options on the pudding list. I had a mint tea, while my friend tucked into a cheese cake. surely in this day and age, with the rise of Veganism being a lifestyle of choice for many, restaurants should be thinking about catering for Vegans? Surely? I mean a fruit salad couldn't possibly harm anyone right?

On the plus side, i have lost nearly half a stone. I am putting this down to the lack of alcohol I am consuming, and also the fact that I've been unwell. But I can not deny the new Vegan diet is helping me shed the last bit of weight I've been carrying since the birth of Little Miss Langdon seven years ago!

What I have discovered this week is the 'Free From' section at Tescos. With this has come cheese, and chocolate puddings. I must admit the chocolate pudding is yummy, mainly because i love cocoa and will often choose a high cocoa content bar over a milky bar most days. The cheese though. The cheese is only tasty if it is melted onto the Vegan burgers I have bought myself. Otherwise it is leaving a horrible after taste. I think it is the coconut milk?

Mr Langdon is started to get fed up with my limiting diet. Although he did return from work this week clutching a bag of vegan chocolate buttons which I am going to tuck into.
